About Me: Over the past few decades, my professional work has immersed me in the arenas of educational technology, library media, and educational publishing. Along the way I completed a doctoral degree in education, all the while watching the world of social media explode (with all the good and the bad)! Considering the landscape of social media today and my own personal experience of intense discussions with friends and family, I decided it was time to share how I've turned my frustrating online experience into a joyful one.

    WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN?

Living in the 21st century means our communication systems are not only providing us with facts and figures at our fingertips (we can Google just about anything and get a quick answer), but we are also easily provided with misinformation and disinformation. In recent years, I’ve noticed a critical need for anyone who uses the Internet to become more discerning of the information at hand, especially since social media has ramped up this need.

    WHAT IS THIS 20-DAY CHALLENGE?

You’ll receive an email every Monday and Wednesday for the next ten weeks, totaling 20 days of emails.

Why twice a week? Since this is all about developing healthy online habits, I don’t want to overwhelm you with too many emails!

I will send you 2 emails per week, with a ton of good content and recommendations, each focused on one topic. Each will contain links to peer- reviewed research studies, definitions of terms, pertinent news articles that explain cultural and psychological nuances, and recommendations from professional organizations.

You'll take a look at some of the basic ways in which online services like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram keep your eyeballs on their content instead of on so many other more productive things you’d rather be doing in your daily life.

You’ll learn how to be a better judge of your own search results. Common terms used by experts who study Internet use will become familiar and useful to you. Many tools and techniques used by people of all ages will become part of your own toolkit when you take on this 20-day challenge.
